How to Use Your Android Phone as a Webcam for PC

An Android phone can produce a sharper, more flexible webcam image than many built-in laptop cameras. Its larger sensor, autofocus, and rear camera often deliver better video for online meetings, live streams, remote classes, and voice calls. With the right app and connection, you can turn a spare smartphone into a practical USB or wireless webcam.

The process usually requires an Android webcam application, a companion program for Windows, and a stable phone stand. Some tools work over Wi-Fi, while others use a USB cable for lower latency and a more dependable connection. The best option depends on whether you prioritize convenience, image quality, or reliability.

Before starting, check that your phone has a working camera, enough battery, and a recent Android version. Clean the lens, position the device at eye level, and keep the phone connected to power during longer meetings or broadcasts.

Choose the right connection method

Wireless webcam apps are the easiest way to begin. Install the same service on your Android device and computer, connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network, then select the virtual camera in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, OBS Studio, or another application.
